Caracole’s mission
is to provide safe, affordable housing and supportive services for
individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. Founded in 1987, Caracole
House was the first licensed adult care facility in Ohio for people
living with HIV/AIDS. Today, Caracole provides direct care services

Just Because Everything is Different Doesn't Mean Anything has Changed
On Wednesday, March 16, Caracole under-went the most dramatic change in the history of the agency. On that day, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) ap-proved Caracole‟s application to provide case management services for the hun-dreds of Ohioans living with HIV/AIDS who had previously been served by STOP AIDS. Caracole’s client base grew from 240 to more than 800 people, effective April 1.
Caracole took this step with the support of our amazing board of directors, staff and volunteers, who knew that the loss of STOP AIDS‟ Ryan White Part B Program would have devastating consequences for people in our region. Nine additional case managers (many from STOP AIDS) have been hired to accommodate this influx of clients.
Caracole now provides free, confidential case-management services for anyone living with HIV/AIDS in eight Southwest Ohio counties: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland and Warren counties.
Read more about these changes in our Summer 2011 newsletter, Living.
The importance of stepping up and serving our community during this difficult time is our paramount concern and we believe this is the right thing to do. We at Caracole know that we are up for this challenge and we hope that we can count on your support, as this endeavor is not without risk. While the grant from the ODH will cover the costs of salaries for additional case managers, there are many un-reimbursed costs that come along with expanding our mission and hiring additional staff members. We are asking you to help us ensure that those in need of HIV/AIDS case management services receive the help they need by making a contribution to Caracole. Simply click on the “Donate Now” button to make your tax-deductible donation today. Or if you prefer, you can mail your contribution to:

Thank you in advance for your support. We know that this situation has the attention of many in our community, who, like us, are concerned about the disruption of services to those in need and are determined not to let that happen.
