Studies have shown PrEP, short for pre-exposure prophylaxis, is between 92–100% effective in preventing HIV
infection, when taken as prescribed. It’s most effective when combined with condoms and other prevention strategies.

Steps to PrEP
Know your status.
Your first step is getting tested. You must be HIV negative before starting and while taking PrEP. Caracole offers FREE, anonymous or confidential HIV testing at our Northside office and on our mobile testing van throughout many Southwestern Ohio counties.

We can help. Caracole is home to an on-site PrEP clinc and we also have partnerships with other PrEP providers in the region. PrEP assistance is available for those who qualify.
